Emma’s 2012 Junior Prom

Well, another milestone has come and gone.  Emma’s prom for this year is now only a memory!  It seems so sad because we spent almost a whole year in planning.  She bought her prom dress for this year back in January!  AND I do believe that she already knows what kind of dress she wants for her Senior Prom.  This year the prom was held at the Riverwalk Grille at Carmichael Inn in Loudon County, Tennessee.  It is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely downtown/fountain/park area surrounding it.  We took soooo many pictures. During the event, they voted for different “Best __________.”  Emma won best hair.  That in itself has a funny story behind it.  On the afternoon of the prom, Emma and several of her girlfriends went to a hairstylist near their school.  She was going to do all their hair and most of their makeup.  After dropping Emma off, I had to go run an errand.  When I returned, the stylist had been working on Emma’s hair.  Now mind you, we had just washed and dried it the night before.  To “do” prom hair, it needs to be clean but it cannot be washed the day of the styling or it is too soft.  So to begin with, it was clean and shiny.  When I walked back into the salon, Emma’s hair looked like she had been in a wind tunnel with about 10 cans of aerosol hairspray that was now residing in her hair.  It looked dirty and absolutely awful!  We tried to get her to fix it, and she did try but she just wasn’t listening to us.  So we finally just had to leave and she still charged us $40.00!  So then we had to run back home from Lenoir City to Greenback, which we were not planning on doing, and fix Emma’s hair for prom.  Actually, Emma did it, there was no “we.”  And she did a fabulous job.  Consequently, she won “Best Hair.”

So I thought I would post a few of the better pictures for you all to view.  Hope you enjoy!

May 2012

This is going to be a busy month!  Emma’s prom is this Thursday, the 10th.  This will be her Junior Prom. She is attending with Matthew Gordy who has been a long-time friend from her school, Crossroad’s Christian Academy. She will be wearing a beautiful red dress this year.  Her freshman year she wore black and her sophomore she wore a gorgeous orange and gold number.  So this year its red, stay tuned for next year!

School will also be over this month.  Actually, I think it is almost over already.  This will probably be her last week of any actual schoolwork.  Next week, is finals.  The administration told the juniors that if they were pulling A’s they didn’t have to take the final in that class.  Fortunately, she is making straight A’s, so NO FINALS for Emma!  The week after that is the last week of school and they really don’t do much that week.  So you see what I mean, school is really already over.

Going to be a busy summer though.  She has a week of working at our church’s Vacation Bible School.  Then she is planning on spending a couple of weeks in Ohio with my dad.  Maybe vacation? Who knows.
